Just what do artist's do when they get bored??
Why, they paint things on their houses of course!

The view of our house from the new subdivision next door.
Kim & I walked up there the other day, we took one look our house,
saw a large bare wall under Marni's room, turned to each other and said "mural!"

So now I am going to document the murals progress.

Day 1 (Saturday 16th August)

Our good mate Emu painted the wall white so I would have a nice base to begin with.
Thanks heaps Emu.

Day 2 (Monday 18th August)

The long 'drawn' out process of drawing the design on the wall
Up and down ladders!!!! I drew it in chalk first then painted the outlines.
I want to colour it now!!! But have to get the paint first.

Day 3 (Tuesday 19th August)

Yay!!! At last I get to paint, didn't start until after 1pm though, cos I had an important meeting with a striped possum, another striped possum and Steve Parish (the photographer).
And I had to buy some extra paint. But at last I am into it.

Have to stand WAYYY back to get the full picture.

Wednesday 20th August)

Worked at the Environment centre, and people didn't leave until late ...didn't they know I wanted to be painting?
Oh well, at least tomorrow I get a full day at it - hope it doesn't rain, I will be reduced to tears if it does.

Day 4 (Friday 22st August)

12:00 noon

I was reduced to tears, it did rain yesterday! How inconsiderate!!!!
But today, even though it is overcast and I am watching the sky, I am back into.
I started around 9:30am, will be interesting to see how much I can get done today.

3pm

the mad pack up as I was watching the rain coming across the water,
hoping that it just keeps on going along the coast, to give the paint a chance to dry
fingers crossed...

Day 5 (Saturday 23rd August)

I was slack and just slothed around until 1:30ish, as I worked with the band last night.
I repainted the light green from yesterday as I didn't like it, otherwise I would have had more finished.
Still, there's always tomorrow.

Day 6 (Sunday 24th August)

Got quite a bit done today, but things have slowed down now, as I am re-coating colours... boring...

RAIN!!!!!!

speaking of boring .... it has been raining, and on days when it hasn't been, I have been busy with other things :-(

(26th June 2009)

Still unfinished, it is no longer raining, however the good old Winter sun is sitting so low that I cannot paint as the wall gets too hot.
Someday it will be finished :-) ... and yes you noticed, I have changed the big flower.

(September 2011)

I must have painted it tough, cos the mural survived Cyclone Yasi with only a few scrapes, I will give it a facelift soon.
It looks fabulous on the newly painted and much brighter house, the painters did an awesome job protecting it while they painted the house.

Stay tuned for more updates.
