'Odysseus'

(Ulysses Butterfly on Ixora)
13 August 2003

Ulysses is the Roman name for Odysseus, the Greek warrior who master-minded the Trojan horse and led the Greek army into Troy.

This spectacular irridescent blue butterfly is found flashing around in rainforest clearings and above the canopy. It also hangs out in gardens as they love brilliant red flowers, especially Ixoras. They are a popular tourism symbol throughout FNQ. The image is one I captured with a video camera on an Ixora in our garden.
