Here are some pics from a quick 23km lap of the block in my neighbourhood. It's not as easy as I'd thought to get bike pics on the roads around here, they're busy this time of year and with few safe spots to pull over for photographs- anyway you'll get the idea
Dunk Is and other islands of the Family Group on the Coral Sea in the background. Dunk Is was made famous in the memoirs of an 1800's hippie ('Confessions Of A Beachcomber')
Note coarse but grippy road surface and interesting sign. Cassowaries are Australia's largest (but flightless) bird- a lot like an emu in many ways but chunkier and with attitude- these birds have and will kill humans if pushed into a confrontation oh and at 50kg can sure mess up a car
Same shot as above but this time 20 days after a category 5 tropical depression aka Cyclone Larry which made landfall on March 20, 2006.
Some of my fave bends- the now famous Bingil Bay Bends. These are signposted at 40kmh but I think the FZ6's would do it (much) faster! All that green stuff is mesophyll vineforest- lowland wet tropics rainforest in other words
