Mini-Me Bear's excellent adventures at Mission Beach Qld.

Just who is Mini-Me Bear?

He belongs to the editor of 'Australian Road-rider Magazine' (obviously a motorcycle magazine).
The editor made a comment in an online motorcycle forum that he would love to visit all of the Ulysses Club members around Australia,
but as that was logistically impossible, Kimbo suggested that he send a bear around to visit.
And Mini-Me Bear was born.

He is traveling around Australia visiting Ulysses Club members and having all sorts of adventures.
He has his own diary and photographic proof of his adventures appear at regular intervals on the Ulysses Club Forum.
He appears to be having a wonderful time.

We thoroughly enjoyed having him, he was a fabulous guest.

let the Mission Beach adventure begin

2nd January 2007
Arrived at Kimbo's house at Mission Beach. It sure is hot and humid here!
I think I'll go and sit in the fridge, can someone please turn out the light?

Man is it HOT up here at Mission Beach!!!! Do you know how good cold beer in a cool pool feels????

These are my new dotty friends

And this is my new friend Dax.
He is a dotty dog, and he is my new best buddy and Marni's best friend

Slept well, nice windy fans.
Man!!! you should see the size of the butterflies up here, they could carry a bear away!
And the CHOOKS!!

Just saw my first chook ... er... cassowary, he is a baby cassowary, and is about eight months old.
He is a rescued baby cos he lost his Dad after the cyclone. Sal feeds him in a special place.
His name is Camilla - cos he turned up on the last day of Big Brother and Marni really really wanted Camilla to win.

When he grows up he will have black feathers, bright blue head and neck with bright red wattles.

Later we went to a party at South Mission Beach and met some nice people.
Then I got to sit in the car! Cos Kimbo & Sal thought they might forget me....

BORING!!!

4th January 2007

Saw a big ... and I mean BIG! cassowary today. Her name is Rebel, cos Sal's not sure if she's a boy or a girl.

Watched David Bowie with Sal - Bowie ROCKS!!!

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up. Pablo Picasso (1881 - 1973)

aka MM Bear meets the arts

While kimbo was at work today, MM Bear asked Sal if she'd
show him how she makes paintings.

MM Bear was very excited when Sal said
he could try painting, himself.

Oh dear MM Bear thought that Sal said
he could try painting himself.

5th January 2007
BORING!!!
Kimbo is on nightshift and is in bed. Sal and Marni have gone shopping to Innisfail AND DIDN'T TAKE ME!!!

man it's hot - is it bear ... er ... beer-o'clock yet????

6th January 2007
BORING AGAIN!!!
They all went shopping in Cairns. I got to stay home and talk to the dog ... Yahoo!!!

Just how loud is the Stebel Nautilus airhorn?

aka MM Bear loses his head over Italian hooters

MM Bear inspects the new ultra-loud (139dB) Stebel Nautilus airhorn on kimbo's rather dirty Yamaha FZ6.

"Go on kimbo let her rip so I can see what all the fuss is about!"

Oh dear! (Sal denies all association with this travesty)

MM Bear gets a head start

aka MM Bear gets a startling head.

After the slight incident with the horn and MM Bear not quite being himself;
we thought it best to make amends somehow.

We rather like the effect and reckon MM Bear will now look much more at home on a cruiser

7th January 2007
Wow, today Sal and Marni and me are off to Dunk Island or was that Drunk Island, I am not sure.
We are going to have breakfast with a heap of friends.

We went on a bloke called Yabbie's boat. It went really fast ...
I had to hold on tight

that's Mission Beach back behind Marni.

Breakfast ... who needs breakfast??? On second thoughts, bacon & egg burger... yummo!

Ah! nothin' better than a bear on a beach on an island
HereI AM keeping half an eye out for barely-dressed backpackers on The Spit Beach (south).

Oh yes I am feeling much more myself today

8th January 2007

Helped Marni play her sax - I was real good too.

9th January 2007

Helped Sal feed the cassowary's. Wow!! they are BIG!!

Then we went to the environment centre.

this is my buddy Boris! Cute isn't he?

10th January 2007

Watched Sal do some painting - she said she didn't need any help.

Then Sal & Marni & me went to Tully (Kimbo was in bed ... still on night shift) .

On the way, we went to a place called Licuala Rainforest.
There are these amazing big fan palms. I thought I might like to climb some.

George George George of the jungle!!!

forgot my leopard skin though!

I even found some cassowary eggs.
I thought I could hatch some babies,
but Sal said they weren't real.

The great metropolis of Tully

I climbed a BIG (is everything big here?) gumboot.
There's little old me way up the top there.

better hope that flaming great frog doesn't get me!!!!

Great view from up here.
That's Tully Sugar Mill where Kimbo works

The height of the gumboot represents the amount of rainfall
recorded in Tully in 1950 a grand total of .... wait for it ...
7.9 metres!!!! an Australian record

On the way home from Tully, I found an amazing tree. Kimbo calls her Vivienne - not sure why...

The Bikini Tree is a local icon who is clothed by a mystery person.
When one lot of bikini's fall off, or rot away, the mystery bikini maker comes to the rescue and makes more.

Yikes!!!!! .... Will ya check out that size of that bird!!!!!!
Let that be a lesson to you ... speed and your car gets kicked by a monster bird!

11th January 2007

MM Bear decides to help Sal save the cassowaries

Faster than a speeding scrub hen,
able to leap tall shrubs in a single bound ....

Is it a bird?
is it a skateboard?
No it's ...

dun-dun-da ..... SuperBear, astride his trusty steed Rebel!

12th January 2007

Visited Tully Sugar Mill (where Kimbo works), it doesn't look all that bear friendly.
But we couldn't go inside, cos they couldn't find safety shoes or a safety helmet or even safety goggles to fit me.

13th January 2007

Watched Sal do some more painting
She still won't let me help, even though I did such a good job last time

Raider, the big mumma cassowary- she's the boss!

14th January 2007

Kimbo's still doing nightshifts and afternoon shifts. So I don't get to see him much.

And when I do, well lets just say ...
he has probably looked better :-)

SHHHH! ... don't tell him I said that

15th January 2007

I helped Sal pack a painting to send to Tassie. I nearly got packed too!

16th January 2007

Went for drinks on the beach at sunset - it was so pretty

- enough to make a bear go all gooey inside - or was that the baked beans I just ate?.

18th January 2007

Phew it's hot here.... wish it would rain!!!

19th January 2007

Went to a party, there was this fabulous pile of old Norton's & Triumph's.

I helped fix them

20th January 2007

did I mention it was hot here?
and steamy .....

22th January 2007

Went to a jam session with Sal. She's been asked to join a band to play bass if she passes the audition.

Met a new friend called ChesterPanda - we sang a song together. I was really good.
I thought they might have asked me to join the band too.

I got to play keyboards too. Man has this guy got some toys!!!!

23rd January 2007

watched Kimbo change his chain BORING! cos he wouldn't let me help!

But look what I found all by myself ... this AMAZING bug.... check out the colour

24th January 2007

Played Bass with Sal cos she got in the band!!! how exciting.
I'm not very good at bass though, cos I can't reach to the end of the long stick bit.

her new band's called Sax On The Beach. I think I might join them as lead singer.

25th January 2007

Went to Paradise Estate Winery....

might have had one too many....hic
gotta love that fruit wine
didn't have gum leaf flavour though :-(

hic ... might just have a little snooze I think

26th January 2007

Happy Australia Day

I am sadly leaving Kim, Sal & Marni's house.
But am excited cos I am going to stay with a family of Bears.
BikeBear, ScooterBear and Grizzly came down from Cairns to get me.

Ha Ha, very funny boys. Kimbo's best Homer impression, ..."why you little ....!"

Thanks Kim, Sal & Marni - cya next time I do the rounds

Cheers - The Bear
